Over 20 years ago, as an enterprising young sportsman, Jason Golden opened Lakeway Sporting Goods as a convenience store that sold fishing supplies on the side.
Located at the junction of Highway 8 and Scenic Loop Road on the way to Grenada Lake, the store soon became an icon for area sportsmen.
“After five years of opening at 5 a.m. and dipping minnows, I sold the fishing and convenience store side of the operation,” Golden said. “We had been selling a few archery supplies out of one corner, and that’s where I really wanted to go.”
Today, Lakeway Archery & Outfitters is a well-stocked hunting-supply store that includes a full-service archery shop. The shop also carries a full line of fishing supplies, and its staff members are well versed in the day-to-day trends, both hunting and fishing, going on in the Grenada area.
