Lois Marguerite Roberts

September 9th, 2018

It is with great sadness but peace of heart that the family of Lois Marguerite Roberts (nee Krebs) announce her passing at the Bethany Seniors Care Facility in Didsbury on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at the age of 90.

Lois is survived by her son, Richard (Linda, nee Brian); and daughters, Darlene Massey-Hicks (Art), Cynthia Roberts, Daphne Walroth (Jim), and Chrystal Roberts (Terry Dickman); as well as 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.  Lois is also survived by her two brothers, Harold (Pat) Krebs and Don (Barb) Krebs; and several nieces and nephews.

Lois was predeceased by her husband, Glyn; son, Dexter; sister, Olwyn (Scotty) Wollen; and niece, Jody Fazekas (nee Krebs).

Lois lived in the Carstairs and Didsbury area all her life.   She was very active in the Carstairs community.  Golfing, curling, playing bridge and gardening were some of her favourite activities.  Lois excelled in the kitchen where she baked pies and cookies, canned preserves and cooked big turkey dinners for all the family.  People enjoyed eating Lois’s pies at the curling rink for over 25 years.  In the evenings, while watching her favourite sports on TV, Lois crocheted well over a hundred afghans.  These much-coveted lap robes were given to family members, special friends, and retirement homes in Didsbury and Carstairs.  One Christmas Lois presented afghans to all the staff at the Carstairs Chinook Winds Lodge.

Lois had a kind heart and went out of her way to welcome new people to the community.  Her grandchildren and great grandchildren had a very special place in her heart.

The Roberts family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Carstairs Chinook Winds Lodge, the Bethany Senior Care Facility in Didsbury and the Didsbury Hospital for their kindness and compassionate care given to Lois over the last few years.

A Celebration of Life, in memory of Lois, will be held at the Carstairs Community Centre, on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Town of Carstairs ‘Welcome Sign Beautification Program in Memory of Glyn & Lois Roberts’.

Messages:

It was a privilege and honour to know Lois. A finer lady you would never find! I am sorry to miss the celebration of Lois’s life today due to the snow but my thoughts are with all the family at this time of sorrow. With sincere sympathy, Linda Ludwig

To the family, I was wanting to be at the service for Lois today, however, the weather is saying no. Lois was one of the first people I met on joining the Carstairs golf club, and we just sort of clicked, and we remained good friends for all those years. You will miss her, as I will. Sincerely. Pat

I remember your Mother as being very friendly with a wonderful laugh and bright smile. My Mom says she will always consider your Mother as a perfect lady and great friend. We are sending you our deepest condolences.

What wonderful memories we have of such a great lady. She baked the best pies and gave the best hugs. Our thoughts are with your family. Love, Elaine and Rick
