INTRODUCTION
CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS contains Sodium Cromoglycate which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-allergy agents. It is used to treat red, watery, itchy eyes caused by allergies like hay fever, house dust mites and pet hair.
It is also used to treat inflammatory conditions of the eye (Ex. vernal keratoconjunctivitis, vernal conjunctivitis, vernal keratitis). You should not wear soft contact lenses while using CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS. Your doctor may recommend you take relevant tests and examinations to understand your existing condition.
Before using CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you have any allergies or if you are taking any other medicines. CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Safety and effectiveness of this medicine in children (below the age of 4 years) have not been established. The most common side effect of using CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS is transient stinging or burning upon instillation. Consult your physician if any of the symptoms get worse.
USES OF CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS
Treats:
- Red, watery, itchy eyes caused by allergies like hay fever, house dust mites and pet hair
- Inflammatory conditions of the eye (Ex. vernal keratoconjunctivitis, vernal conjunctivitis, vernal keratitis)
HOW CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS WORKS
CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS works on certain cells in the body (mast cells) to prevent them from releasing substances that cause allergic and inflammatory symptoms such as red, itchy and watery eyes.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Use CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS as advised by your physician. It is for ophthalmic use only. Wash your hands before use. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before using CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS and do not wear for at least 15 minutes. Pull your lower eyelid slowly and instill one or two drops of CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS inside the lower eyelid. Close your eyes and lightly press on the inner corner of your eyelid for 1 minute to prevent the drainage of the solution into your nose and throat.
If needed, repeat the same for the other eye. Proper dose and duration will be determined by your doctor depending upon your age, body weight and health condition. Do not stop using CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS unless your doctor advises you to stop.
SIDE EFFECTS OF CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS
COMMON
- transient stinging or burning upon instillation
RARE
Stop using CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- allergic reactions (sudden wheeziness, trouble breathing, swollen eyelids, face or lips, rash or itching that usually affects your whole body)
- blur eyesight
- eye irritation
HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Eye irritation or burning:
Close your eyes and relax for some time. Place an ice pack on the eyes for few minutes. Avoid looking at mobile phone, laptop or any other light sources which might irritate your eyes. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.
WARNING & PRECAUTIONS
PREGNANCY
CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS should be used in women who are pregnant or planning for pregnancy only if considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before using it.
BREASTFEEDING
CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before using it.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience blurred eyesight after using CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS.
ALLERGY
Do not use CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS if you are allergic to Sodium Cromoglycate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
OTHERS
Before using CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS inform your physician if you:

Safety and effectiveness of CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS in children (below the age of 4 years) have not been established. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.
INTERACTIONS
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before using CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS, inform your doctor if you are taking, have taken or might take any other medicine, including prescription, non-prescription or any herbal medicine.
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally use too much of CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.

Can I use CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS if I wear contact lenses?
Do not use CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS if you wear soft contact lenses. If you wear soft contact lenses, remove them before using CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS and do not wear for at least 15 minutes or until the effects of the medicine have completely worn off.
What if I accidentally swallow CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS?
CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS is for external use only. If you have swallowed or you suspect someone else has swallowed any of this medicine, contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital at once. If possible, take the packaging with you, even if empty.
What if I miss a dose of CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS?
If you miss a dose of CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS, take it as soon as you remember. However, skip that dose if the time for the next dose is closer. Do not take CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS two times to make up for the missed dose.
Can I stop using CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS without consulting a doctor?
You should keep using CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS for as long as your doctor has asked, as your treatment is helping your condition, even if you have not noticed any improvement. If you want to stop your treatment, your doctor will advise you how to do this.
Can CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS cause bacterial infection?
Not as such, but if handled wrongly, of if the tip of the bottle touches your eye or any other surface, it can become contaminated by common bacteria and cause eye infections. If you do develop any other eye condition whilst using CROMAL FORTE EYE DROPS, see your doctor immediately.
