As expected, the Nets have re-signed defensive specialists Andre Roberson and Iman Shumpert to 10-day deals, hours after they cleared waivers. The two were cut by the Nets on Wednesday with the understanding they’d get 10-days.

Roberson, 6’7”, and Shumpert, 6’6”, had signed to non-guaranteed deals. Roberson had played in two games before being cut, Shumpert one.

The signings give the Nets a full roster of 17 players: 12 on standard deals; three on 10-days (Tyler Cook is the third) and two two-way contracts. The 10-days and two-ways give the Nets flexibility with the NBA trade deadline approaching on March 25 and buyout deadline two weeks later on April 9.

Bobby Marks reported the (minimal) salary cap consequences of the signings...

Roberson, Shumpert and Cook can be extended to a second 10-day to give Steve Nash more time to evaluate the three. The belief is that Roberson and Shumpert are competing for one spot.
