When in love, compromise is one of the things expected. Although this is a good quality for partners, it can also lead to someone being taken for a ride. Life coach and self-love advocate Modiehi Masita unpacks what it means to be an understanding and nice girlfriend, which may, at first, look like the right thing to do but can expose deep and sad truths.

So how does one know that their 'niceness' is taken advantage of?

"When you start feeling like a doormat when you are being breadcrumbed, and the love and attention are not the same anymore, that's when you know you are being taken advantage of and if no effort is invested in the relationship. Speak up the minute you sense a shift; the longer you wait, the longer the breadcrumbing will continue."
