The 6 Biggest Revelations From Bella Hadid's Vogue Interview

Isabella Khair Hadid, known around the world as Bella Hadid, is one of the hottest and most sought-after supermodels in the fashion industry. She is the younger sister of fellow supermodel Gigi Hadid. Bella Hadid, 25, has worked for several iconic brands including Versace, Michael Kors, Dior, and Marc Jacobs. She has walked for Chanel, Givenchy, Miu Miu, DKNY, and Ralph Lauren on the runway.

Raised by Dutch model Yolanda Hadid and Palestinian real estate developer Mohamed Hadid, Bella Hadid has been in the spotlight from a young age but has managed to keep her private life relatively out of the spotlight.

However, in a recent interview with Vogue, Bella Hadid opened up about her life, career, mental health, and more. Newsweek has everything you need to know.

The 6 Biggest Revelations From Bella Hadid's Vogue Interview

1. Nose Job Regrets and Plastic Surgery

At 14-years-old, Bella Hadid had a nose job, something she now regrets.

She told Vogue: "I wish I had kept the nose of my ancestors. I think I would have grown into it."

Bella Hadid is of Dutch and Arab Palestinian descent from her mother and father's side of the family respectively.

In her interview, Bella Hadid also put an end to the rumors she has had a serious amount of plastic surgery including having her eyes lifted, her jaw shaved, and her lips filled.

She said: "I have never used filler. Let's just put an end to that. I have no issue with it, but it's not for me. Whoever thinks I've gotten my eyes lifted or whatever it's called—it's face tape! The oldest trick in the book. I've had this impostor syndrome where people made me feel like I didn't deserve any of this. People always have something to say, but what I have to say is, I've always been misunderstood in my industry and by the people around me."

2. She Owns a Farm

Ahead of the Vogue interview, Bella Hadid thought she would be in Pennsylvania, not New York, on her farm that she owns with her mom Yolanda and her sister Gigi Hadid.

On the 32-acre farm, she has a horse called Blue and is surrounded by goats, cows, and other farm life.

3. Bella Hadid Was the "Uglier Sister"

Reflecting on her younger years, Bella Hadid shared she felt like the "uglier sister" in comparison to her older sister model Gigi Hadid, and apparently, people around her thought it too.

She told Vogue: "I was the uglier sister. I was the brunette. I wasn't as cool as Gigi, not as outgoing. That's really what people said about me. And unfortunately, when you get told things so many times, you do just believe it."

4. She Suffers from Mental Health Issues and Lyme Disease

Bella Hadid has been outspoken in the past about her diagnosis of Lyme disease, which has left her feeling exhausted and nauseous, sometimes for days on end.

In recent years, she has also spoken out about the fragility of her mental health.

Back in November 2021, fans of the supermodel may have been surprised to see a series of posts on her Instagram account which featured images of Bella Hadid with tears in her eyes, sharing her struggle with anxiety.

Alongside the pictures, Bella Hadid wrote: "This is pretty much my every day, every night. For a few years now. Social media is not real. For anyone struggling, please remember that. Sometimes all you've gotta hear is that you're not alone. So from me to you, you're not alone."

Speaking to Vogue, she said she was someone who suffered from "incredible insecurities, anxiety, depression, body-image issues, eating issues, who hates to be touched, who has intense social anxiety" leading her to question why she got involved in the modeling industry in the first place.

She explained: "Over the years I became a good actress. I put on a very smiley face, or a very strong face. I always felt like I had something to prove. People can say anything about how I look, about how I talk, about how I act. But in seven years I never missed a job, canceled a job, was late to a job. No one can ever say that I don't work my a** off."

Bella Hadid also shared when she was in high school, a psychiatrist prescribed extended-release Adderall for her inattention and the appetite-suppressant effect of medication led her down the path of anorexia.

She said: "I was on this calorie-counting app, which was like the devil to me. I was just trying, I realize now, to feel in control of myself when I felt so out of control of everything else."

Thankfully, Bella Hadid has a healthy relationship with food today but shared sometimes, she cannot look in the mirror because of the unhealthy period in her life.

5. Bella Hadid Has A Boyfriend

Bella Hadid has had a boyfriend of two years, New York-based art director, Marc Kalman. They have kept their relationship very private which is a pretty stark contrast to her very public relationship with The Weeknd.

Fans of the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will never forget the moment she crossed paths with her famous ex as she walked the runway in 2016.

6. Bella Hadid Worked At a Juice Bar

When Bella Hadid was 14-years-old and living in Malibu, she worked at SunLife, a juice shop in Pont Dume.

Reflecting on working in a job that paid $7 per hour, Bella Hadid said: "It's not to say that I didn't have a very privileged upbringing, but my parents are immigrants who came here and worked for everything they had. I always knew the value of a dollar."

With her wages, Bella Hadid would visit thrift stores buying all things vintage fashion, which makes a lot of sense, considering her mark on the fashion world today.
