The village of Antwerp, established in 1853, is home to about 700 people and is located in the Northeastern portion of Jefferson County. The village lies on both sides of the Indian River, which was the center of early settlement. The entire village has been listed on the New York State Historic Registry.

The Crosby Public Library is undergoing an exciting expansion. They are adding an additional 1,400-square feet, upgrading heating/cooling and increasing efficiency to reduce operating costs. A cozy adult reading corner by the fire is almost complete!

Ryan was getting in some practice for school. He attends SUNY Canton to study small engine repair. His goal is to eventually work for Polaris. Before I left he said if I was looking for people to photograph, Edward and Sue Montgomery do really wonderful work with the food pantry at the church. How nice that he gave a shout-out to his mom and dad!

Brianna and Baby moved to Antwerp from West Virginia about a year ago. I asked, "What brought you all the way up north?" From the car, a woman shouted, "Me!" Family is everything!

This Romanesque Revival brick building was originally constructed for the Bank of Antwerp, founded in 1872 by Cassius Coolidge. Coolidge eventually gained fame for being the artist who painted the poker-playing dogs!

Monument Park, on Main and Madison streets, was dedicated in 1894. It includes a 40-granite monument and a World War II Sherman tank.

Chelsea and Jaimie moved from Harrisburg, Pa., to Antwerp last year. They're loving the open spaces, and getting to spend time with their 6-and-a-half-year-old nephew, Marcus.

The playground is right at the edge of Fort Drum. I realized this when I read a sign that said, "you are now entering a military installation." I reversed my vehicle. The sounds of artillery explosions can be a bit unnerving, but they say you get used to it quickly.

Antwerp and the surrounding areas have a growing Amish population. It is not uncommon to share the road with a horse and buggy.

The large flock of sheep you may see on Route 11 in Antwerp belongs to Beartown Farms. Beartown Farms consists of three previously abandoned dairy farms and is now home to 150 Angus and Devon cattle and 600 St. Croix hair sheep. They've recently added a roadside stand where people can buy directly from the farm.
