Dixville Notch State Park

Babysitter’s Guide to Getting Up and Out

If there’s one thing NH State Parks can do for your summer vacation, it's letting you in on the best ways to enjoy New Hampshire’s natural recreation. When motivating kiddos to get out and get active, it’s all about the views. Dixville Notch offers varying hikes, directly off US Route 26, with rewarding and awe-inspiring views. Table Rock Trail averages a 75-minute hike time, leading to a picturesque overlook of Lake Gloriette and the entire notch. Though this is a steeper trail, wearing the right footwear and taking it slowly makes it a moderate hike. Sanguinary Ledge Trail is a more challenging trail, averaging a 2.5-hour hike time. However, the trail passes five overlooks along the way. You can make your own summit for however long you’d like to hike without sacrificing the reward of a view. When hiking, make sure to check advisories and resources on how to best prepare for your trip. Check out our Hiking page for these resources.
