The morphological features of Korean materials were described in detail by Cho et al. 2008a This species is usually found clumped on Sargassum spp., as a large entangled mass in sheltered areas. 10. Boo et I. K. Lee 1985b217. Thalli bright to rose-pink red, uniseriate filamentous, primarily erect and secondarily decumbent in lower portion, densely tufted, 1-10 cm high, subdichotomously to dichotomously branched, incompletely corticated with band-like cortication, epiphytic or epiphytic, attached by filamentous rhizoids issuing from periaxial cells or cortical cells. Growth apical, by transverse divisions of apical cell and basipetal elongation of its derived cells. Apices more or less straight, forming forcipate tips with unequal length of branches in the same plane. Nodal spines absent. Axial cells transversely rectangular near apices, 100-110 μm broad, 0.5 times L/B at the level of the second dichotomy away from the apex, elongate cylindrical, 150-230 μm broad, 2.0-3.5 times L/B in lower mature portion, cutting off 5 periaxial cells by oblique divisions from the upper end of each parent axial cell. Branches subdichotomous by the division of apical cells, complanate, formed by 30-45° angled Y-shaped dichotomy in middle to lower parts, occurring at irregular intervals of 5-12 cells, usually 1-2 cells longer in the abaxial ones = lateral axes than the adaxial ones = main axes Adventitious branches absent in the upper to middle parts, occurring in the lower parts from periaxial cells, or not formed entirely in case of the polulations epiphytic on Codium. Periaxial cells whorled, usually 5 per axial cell, trapezoid in cross-section view, rectangular to oblong in surface CeramialesCeramiaceaeCeramium49
