This road sign typo is a real traffic stopper

White letters spelling "SOTP" instead of "STOP" approaching a Robbinsville street will be painted over by the end of Tuesday, an official says.

It's unclear when the letters were painted in a parking lot off Union Street in Town Center, but people were having fun with with the goof on Facebook Monday.

In a thread on a Robbinsville community page, some questioned if the letters were indeed so badly misspelled, suspecting a hoax.

Turns out, it's real.

Others joked about what SOTP could stand for. And others went to the street to confirm for themselves the grammatical error and posted follow-up pictures.

Tom Troy, of property owner Sharbell Development Corp., was not amused. He said it was painted on private property by a private contractor, "who cannot spell."

It will be fixed by the end of the day, he said.
