Thornburn showcases snooker prowess in Cobourg

The only person to beat Thorburn on Sunday was Dave Hedger.

“I’m astonished,” Hedger said shortly after the game was finished. “It’s something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

There is already talk of a possible grudge match to be held this summer.

After the games, Thorburn answered a number of questions and performed numerous trick shots.

In 1980, Thorburn became the first-ever non-British world champion of snooker. In 1983 he made snooker history when he completed the tournaments first-ever maximum break (the perfect game) at the Embassy World Professional Championship.

Thorburn has 13 Canadian titles and 27 professional championships worldwide. He is an Order of Canada recipient and is a member of the Canadian Snooker Hall of Fame.
