Description and Ethnobotany

Growth Form A shrub that can reach up to 3 m tall.
Foliage Small, bipinnate compound leaves, petiole about 1 cm.
Flowers Flowers borne in clusters, inflorescence found on axillary stems. Stamens numerous, white on the lower half while pink on the upper half.
Fruit Pod is narrow, compressed, pubescent. Fruits has 2 - 4 oblong to oval seeds.
Etymology The genus Calliandra means beautiful-stamens (in reference to the shaving-brush tree). The specific epithet parvifolia means with small-leaves.
