The castaways of “Gilligan’s Island” have washed ashore in Hollywood, headed for a fateful trip to the big screen, Variety reported.

Warner Bros. has green-lighted a movie based on the popular sitcom about seven unlucky castaways stranded on an uninhabited island after an-ill-fated boat ride, which aired from 1964 through 1967 – and have been shipwrecked in syndication ever since.

“The characters are so good,” producer Charles Roven told Variety. “We think it’s going to be a great story to transport these cultural icons to the modern day.”

No casting has been announced, but original series creator Sherwood Schwartz said last year that his choice would be to have Michael Cera play the title role made famous by Bob Denver in the original series.
