A look back at past Mr. Irrelevants

1998:Weber State tight end Cam Quayle was drafted by Baltimore. Quayle became the first Mr Irrelevant to drag the infield at a major-league baseball game.

2003: Gustavius Adolphus College wide receiver Ryan Hoag was drafted by Oakland, but was cut. He has played for Minnesota (2004) and Washington (2006). In 2008 he appeared on the TV reality show "The Bachelorette" and - despite claiming to be a 28-year-old virgin - still got the boot. 1997: Army quarterback Ronnie McAda was drafted by Green Bay. Here, his mother Donna pulls a loose thread from his uniform as he prepares to enter the banquet kicking off Irrelevant Week in 1997.

1996:New Mexico State linebacker Sam Manuel, left, was drafted by San Francisco along with his twin brother Sean, right. Here, the brothers ride on a tandem bike to the entrance of Twin Palms Restaurant in Newport Beach on June 23, 1996.

1995:Boston University defensive back Mike Reed was drafted by the Carolina Panthers. He spent two seasons there before playing for NFL Europe's Frankfurt Galaxy (1998-99), where he was team captain of the 1999 World Bowl Championship team. Since 2007, he has been the defensive backs coach at N.C. State.

1994: University of Kentucky linebacker Marty Moore was drafted by the New England Patriots. Perhaps the most successful Mr. Irrelevant on the field, Moore played eight seasons at New England (1994-99, 2001) and Cleveland (2000), where he started nine games.

1993: Akron University kicker/punter Daron Alcorn (right) was drafted by Tampa Bay as No. 224 - the first year the draft was reduced to eight rounds. Alcorn didn't make the Bucs, but he did play for the Frankfurt Galaxy of the World Football League and the Oklahoma Wranglers (pictured) of the Arena Football League.

1992: Michigan center Matt Elliott (right) was drafted by the Washington Redskins. Seen here in 1991 blocking for Michigan teammate Desmond Howard, Elliott played five seasons in the NFL (Washington 1992-93, Carolina '95-97). In 1995, he started 14 games for the Panthers.

1991: John Carroll College quarterback Larry Wanke was drafted by the New York Giants. He remains the lone Mr. Irrelevant to hail from the northeastern Ohio football factory. Although he did not make the Giants, Wanke went on to become a successful realtor in Cleveland.

1990: Nevada tight end Demetrius Davis was drafted by the L.A. Raiders. The 1990 Irrelevant Week introduced "Runnin' Gunnin' Golf." He played briefly for the Raiders and then the World League.

1989: Ohio State wide receiver Everett Ross was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings. After being cut in camp, he joined the Army and remained a soldier until 1995.
