Steak lovers, prepare yourself for $1 filet mignon.
Morton’s the Steakhouse will celebrate National Filet Mignon Day on Thursday with $1 sandwiches.
The filet mignon sandwiches will be available all day – but only in the bar area. The limit is 12 sandwiches per person.
Expect long lines at Orange County’s two locations, including one in Anaheim at 1895 South Harbor Blvd., and the other in Santa Ana at 1641 W. Sunflower Ave.
“We look forward to commemorating this day with diners each year at any of our over 70 locations across the country,” said Tim Whitlock, Morton’s senior vice president of operations, in a statement.
Morton’s opened its first location in Chicago in 1978 and now has 73 locations worldwide.
Beef prices, by the way, have been on a downtrend since the beginning of 2015, according to Yahoo Finance. Cattle inventory increased 2 percent to 98.4 million head in July 2015 compared to 96.3 million head in July 2014. Beef cattle also increased 3 percent year-over-year to 30.5 million head in July. All this may indicate that beef prices could continue to fall in the remaining part of 2015 and in 2016.
