Andre Roberson is back playing professional basketball in Oklahoma City.

The G League OKC Blue announced Wednesday that it had acquired the 6-foot-7 guard, who played five seasons for the Thunder before suffering a devastating knee injury in January 2018, which was followed by a string of setbacks.

Roberson returned for the Thunder at the end of the 2019-20 season after a 917-day absence. He played in seven games, all in the Orlando bubble.

He played in one game, logging three minutes, in the Thunder’s first-round loss to the Rockets in the 2020 playoffs.

Andre Roberson (21) poses for a photo during the Oklahoma City Thunder media day at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla. on Monday, Sept. 30, 2019.

Roberson played in five games for the Nets in the 2020-21 season before Brooklyn waived him.

Roberson, by all indications, hasn’t played pro basketball since then, which made news of his signing all the more surprising.

The 26th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, Roberson averaged 4.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in 307 career games. He made 269 starts with the Thunder from 2013 through 2018.

At 31, he’s on the older side for G League players. He’d be the Thunder’s oldest player.

Roberson has to be considered a long-shot to return to the NBA, but even so, playing G League ball with the Blue is a remarkable step now five years after his original knee injury.
