Wolf Tail Forest

Adventurous forest on Møn

Ulvshale Skov is an ancient forest containing fairytale-like bent trees, which is located on the Ulvshale peninsula on Møn. Here, you can go for a walk and enjoy nature, build a den with your children or climb some of the forest’s trees. If you visit Ulvshale at night, you’ll be rewarded with a starry sky in a class of its own.

Despite its modest size, Ulvshale Skov contains a wealth of bushes and tree types, ranging from oak to lime and checker. Most of the area is natural forest, which is allowed to grow without human interference. The forest floor consists mainly of spherical flint stones, which have fallen down from Møns Klint, and been brought from there to the Ulvshale peninsula by the current and deposited over time. Take a short walk that leads you through varying nature, consisting of forests, heaths of heather, dunes containing sea buckthorn and extensive salt marshes.

Møn and Nyord have been designated as Scandinavia’s first ”International Dark Sky Park” and ”International Dark Sky Community”. The latter international designation has been given to the location because you can experience an unspoiled starry night sky with very little light pollution.

The forest is best experienced on foot and there are five marked walking routes. At Ulvshale Naturcenter there’s a parking area, toilet, and information about paths and facilities in the area.
