Common Name Hirtz's Crossoglossa [German Engineer, Orchid Enthusiast and Orchid Collector in Ecuador current]

Found in Zamora-Chinchipe Ecuador at elevations of 1100 to 2800 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a caulescent, recumbent to erect stem enveloped by distichous, imbricating, foliaceous leaf sheaths carrying non-deciduous, narrowly elliptic, acute, narrowing below into the subpetiolate base leaves that blooms in the later sumer and fall on a terminal, erect, elongate, peduncel to 3.6" [9 cm] long, rachis to 10" [25 cm] long, spirally arranged, many flowerd inflorescence with awl-shaped, entire margin floral bracts carrying light green flowers.

CAUTION The photos above agree very well with Dodson's type drawing other than the fact that Dodson does not mention the yellow lip, so please use with caution!!!!!

Distinguished by the lip more than 6mm long, that is narrower towards the apex than at the base, elliptic to ovate, not pandurate, saggitate basally, margins finely denticulate, the elongate, longitudinal callus in the center of the lip, and the pair of calli on either side of the base of the lip forming a pair of diverging horns.
