Common Name The Dilemma Pleurothallis [an allusion the the basally two-horned leaf]
Flower Size .6" [1.5 cm]
Found in Cundinamarca department of Colombia and Zamora-Chinchipe province of Ecuador at elevations of 1800 to 2900 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect, ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 close, tubular sheath and another on the lower half and carrying a single, apical, deflexed, thickly rigid, semi-terete, narrowly ovate to sigmoid-ovate, densely short-pubescent, broadly and shallowly channeled to near the apex, acute, basally sessile, deeply forked with semiterete basal lobes, pointing upwards leaf that blooms in the fall on a descending, arising through a reclining spathe at the leaf base, successive single flowered inflorescence with an as long as to just shorter than the pedicel floral bract.
Part of the Pleurothallis cardiostola/Pleurothallis lilijae complex. This one has flowers that are undistinctive in the section but vegetatively this one is unique with mature plants. The very rigid leaves are very three dimensional because they are thickly, acutely defexed away from the ramicaul and are very narrowly cordate basally becoming almost horn-like above the flower nestled at the base below and overall the leaves hang like pea pods.
