Kyle Singler pushing for minutes in rookie season with Detroit Pistons

Singler makes the right play and adds youth at small forward, two traits that will help him push veterans Tayshaun Prince and Corey Maggette in a fight for minutes, the Detroit Free Press notes.

Another young forward for the Pistons, third-year man Greg Monroe, likes what he has seen from Singler. "He makes us more athletic," Monroe said. "He's a smart player."

Singler has gotten away from his YouTube days, during which he posted his trick shot attempts from high school and at Duke. He said his focus is more geared toward picking up everything he can before the start of his first year in the NBA.

"I'm just trying to come in and learn the system,” Singler said. “Coach (Lawrence) Frank seems to be a very detailed person. I know he's a hard worker, and I've heard he's a guy that knows his stuff, and he knows what he's doing."
