Mechanicsburg, PA: "A Good Place to Live"
The quaint town with the quirky name, Mechanicsburg, resides in the scenic Cumberland Valley. The name originates from the significant amount of wagon mechanics that were in the town at its inception. Today, evidence of Mechanicsburg's history can still be seen in museums, the historic downtown area, and in the old Pennsylvania railroad sites that still remain.
The town’s motto is “A Good Place to Live” and the town holds true to its motto! It is home to a variety of events, The Art Walk & Wine Tasting,
Earth Day Festival and
Jubilee Day (which is the largest, 1-day street festival on the East Coast). There is quite a selection of restaurants in downtown Mechanicsburg: sports bars, diners, cafes, a coffee shop and, for the European palette, there is a choice of Greek, French or Italian eateries, each providing a unique dining experience. Want to work up an appetite? Shop the one-of-a kind stores throughout downtown Mechanicsburg. Buy chocolate at Brittle Bark and teas and spices at Rosemary House and Gardens. Looking for gifts? Head to Mumma’s Jewelry or The Glitz Soap Co. For the history buff, browse the Civil War and More store.
