Dainty lemon-yellow flowers nod above contrasting slender purple leaves. Blooms midsummer. North American wildflower. Does spread some, but not to be confused with the noxious weed Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria). Tolerates wet soil. Received the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (1996)
