This cool-growing miniature sized species occurs in Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador. It can be found at altitudes of 1800-2400m. The plant grows to about 3-4cm and the flowers 8-10mm. The ornaments on the flower are likely to be wax excretions. They are very sensitive to wind and static electricity. It is speculated that the "jiggling"in the breeze of the structures attracts potential pollinators.
