Sitting Beside The Devil Poem by David Harris

Sitting Beside The Devil

In memory of the 38 people senselessly
Murdered in Tunisia.

Summer is a time for joy,
holidays near clear waters,
basking on the beach in the sun
Never expecting the horror
from a crazed maniac gunman,
displaying no remorse for anyone
under a warm summer sun.

It is a sad fact of life
that terrorism everywhere is rife.
They are lower than common criminals.
Killing everyone who will not believe
in their demonic words.
They are in league with the Devil
and evil is their own right.

Their crimes are not against one,
but all of humanity.
Like demons they slaughter
the good and innocent alike.
Their reward one day will be
not sitting with their God,
but sitting beside the Devil in a burning hell for eternity.
