Pixar’s newest series of shorts stars Up’s very good boy Dug

Squirrel!

Dug, the loveable golden retriever from Pixar’s Up, is starring in his very own short series on Disney Plus. The first trailer brings back Dug, Russell, and Carl (and Squirrel!) for some suburban backyard shenanigans. Through Dug’s eyes, everything is an adventure — including digging up azaleas and chasing squirrels. Ah, to be a well-loved talking golden retriever in a backyard, basking underneath the sun. Bob Peterson returns to voice Dug, and also write and direct the shorts.

“Dug is pure of heart—he’s a good soul. I think people enjoy that part of Dug,” Peterson said in a press release. “Plus, people love their dogs. We’ve gone to great lengths to include truth in dog behavior, so they see their own dogs in Dug.”

This isn’t the first time Dug has made a post-movie appearance. In a few separate Disney and Pixar in Real Life series, the golden retriever came to the real world. If only all dogs were equipped with little talking devices so we could understand them.

All five episodes of Dug Days hit Disney Plus on Sept. 1.
