Genshin Impact Fontaine hidden reputation world quest list

Where do you start quests like “Happy Birthday” and “An Expected Lie?”

Julia Lee (she/her) is a guides producer, writing guides for games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Genshin Impact. She helped launch the Rift Herald in 2016.

Genshin Impact’s 4.0 update added Fontaine, a beautiful industrious area filled with water. With a new area comes new reputation quests to complete and earn some goodies.

After talking to the Fontaine reputation NPC, Euphrasie, you’ll see a list of world quests that you can complete to earn further reputation points.

Many quests will appear in plain sight — as you get close to the quest-giver, a blue exclamation point will appear on your map and above the NPC’s head, signalling you over. However, there are some quests that don’t get this marker and can be hard to find if you don’t know what you’re looking for.

Note that you will only get access to the Fontaine reputation system once you complete act two of the Fontaine Archon Quest. Some of these quests may have prerequisites in order to unlock. By the time we finished all 20 of the Fontaine reputation quests, we had also finished the two lengthy world quests, “Ann of the Narzissenkreuz” and “Ancient Colors.” If heading to the areas and interacting with the NPCs below do not start a quest, do some of the other ones and circle back.

Below, we list the unmarked world quests that you need to complete to earn Fontaine reputation.

‘The Fountain Flows Again’ world quest location

To start “The Fountain Flows Again,” interact with the marked doodad in the location below:

‘Truly Mouthwatering!’ world quest location

To start this quest, approach the house pictured below:

Once you clear out the crab enemies in front, the quest will automatically begin.

‘Ann’s Story: Prologue’ world quest location

This quest auto-completes as part of the “Ann of the Narzissenkreuz” quest line. Once you finish act three, this will be done and you can pick up your reward from the reputation NPC.

‘Seymour’s Story Prologue’ world quest location

This quest auto-completes once you finish the “Ancient Colors” quest line. The third act is “Blue Longing of Heart and Moon,” and this quest was just marked as finished once we finished this line.

‘Fishing Game’ world quest location

This quest is unmarked and one of the options to get “Strange Parts” for the world quest “There Will Come Soft Rains.” To start it, talk to Iara in Merusea Village:

‘Were It So Easy’ world quest location

This is a marked quest, but it has an unlabeled prerequisite that rewards a “Strange Part” for the “There Will Come Soft Rains” world quest. To do it, talk to Cosanzeana outside of Merusea Village:

After you pick a flower and water it using some Hydro, the first quest will automatically be completed. Cosanzeana will return to Merusea Village and have “Were It So Easy” as a marked quest after you do this.

‘The Three Primary Colors of the Solar Corona’ world quest location

Talk to Sluasi in Merusea Village to start “The Three Primary Colors of the Solar Corona.” She can be found here:

Give Sluasi items that match the colors she’s looking for to complete the quest.

‘A Letter’ world quest location

This quest appeared in our journal one real-life day after finishing the Fontaine Research Institute quests. You can start the latter by talking to Katheryne in Fontaine.

‘Caterpillar’s Story: Prologue’ world quest location

Just like the other prologue quests above, this one automatically completed for us once we wrapped up the “Unfinished Comedy” quest line.

‘Road to the Singularity’ world quest location

To start “Road to the Singularity,” head into the tunnel entrance marked above. Activate the device inside to turn on the elevator using Pneuma and Ousia inside and head down the lift. Once you do this, the quest will automatically begin.

‘Treacherous Light of the Depths’ world quest location

To start this quest, head to the above area in the water and use the jellyfish ability to blast open the blue-cracked rocks in the ground. This will open up a cavern. Head deeper into the cavern and keep heading straight to automatically activate “Treacherous Light of the Depths.”

‘Both Brains and Brawn’ world question location

After completing the “Unfinished Comedy” quest line, head back to the Administrative Area of the Fortress of Meropide and start walking around. Paimon will start talking about something, automatically activating “Both Brains and Brawn.”

‘In the Wake of Narcissus’ world quest location

In order to get this quest, you need to finish four longer world quests: “Ann of the Narzissenkruez,” “Ancient Colors,” “Unfinished Comedy,” and “Initial Facts.” These quests all relate to each other, and once you do them, “In the Wake of Narcissus” will appear in your quest log automatically.

‘An Expected Lie’ world quest location

This quest unlocks after completing the world quest “An Expected Plan.” You can unlock “An Expected Plan” by heading to Lumidouce Harbor on the east side of Fontaine and talking to the NPC with the quest marker.

‘Wish-Fulfilling Treasure Hunt’ world quest location

This quest will appear with the usual blue quest marker in the waters between the slopes of Mont Automnequi and Fort Charybdis Ruins, but only after completing the entire “In the Wake of Narcissus” quest line.

‘Happy Birthday’ world quest location

In order to get this world quest, there are quite a few prerequisites:

  1. Complete the quest “Book of Esoteric Revelations.”
  2. Complete “In the Wake of Narcissus.”
  3. Find, enter, and complete the combat instance or puzzles inside the six purple glowing Looking Glasses. You’ll find most of the Looking Glasses as you do “In the Wake of Narcissus.”
  4. Go to Canotila and the book and enter the world to start “Through the Looking Glass.” Talk to Canotila to finish the quest.
  5. Fast forward two in-game days until the book has a blue quest marker on it. Go into the book to start the quest “Pursuit.” Complete “Pursuit” by following the figure inside the special realm, and then talking to Canotila again inside the book.
  6. Wait one in-game day.

Once you do this, the NPC to start the quest will be at the spot below:

That’s all the Fontaine hidden reputation quests for now. If you need more to do, you can always backtrack the Sumeru reputation quests (if you haven’t done them yet).

The next level of puzzles.
