Bratwurst.

Sometimes you want a bratwurst, but you don't feel like firing up a grill for a single brat.

Where are the best places to order a bratwurst?  USA TODAY assembled a list of the 20 top brat spots in Wisconsin based on nominees from a panel of experts (including yours truly). Voters will narrow the field to the 10 best.

Milwaukee serves up the most options, but brat spots in Sheboygan, Kohler and Appleton also made the cut that provides plenty of diversity.

There are brats steeped in German tradition at places like OB's Brau Haus in Appleton that works with a local butcher to ensure its sausage grind closely reflects authentic European flavors. Others come with more local flare, like the double brat on a traditional Sheboygan hard roll at Charcoal Inn South. Some brats are a touch upscale. You can order one covered with bacon-braised sauerkraut and local stout mustard at the Horse & Plow in Kohler. Of course a few places flirt with bratwurst heresy including a vegan option and topping choices like cream cheese at The Vanguard in Milwaukee.
