Receiving treatment after an accident can often be expensive especially if you do not have health insurance. Often times our clients say they cannot seek treatment because they simply cannot afford the healthcare cost. One great resource we recommend are Community Health Centers. Individuals who cannot afford health insurance or do not qualify for coverage through Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program can get low-cost health care at a nearby Community Health Center. Community Health Centers (CHCs), also known as Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) are non-profit, community-based, and patient-centered organizations that deliver comprehensive, integrated primary and preventative health care services to everyone in their communities, regardless of their legal status, insurance status or ability to pay. How much an individual pays depends on their income. Community Health Centers are located in both urban and rural areas, and provide prenatal care, baby shots, general primary care, and referrals to specialized care, including mental health, substance abuse, and HIV/AIDS. Health centers may assess patients over the phone or through telehealth.
