From giving updates on her hair loss journey to sharing her inspiring aging mantra, Ricki Lake isn’t afraid to broach taboo topics with fans. Now, the star is sharing how she lost 30 lbs in four months—without the use of a “pharmaceutical” (a.k.a. weight loss drugs).

The 55-year-old former talk show host posted a series of pictures on Instagram to share the details of her recent weight loss journey with followers. “Hi friends,” Lake wrote in the caption. “I’ve been wanting to share with you what I’ve been up to these last four months.”

She continued: “On October 26th, 2023, I made a commitment to myself to get healthier. My husband, Ross, joined me in this effort. Together, we have each lost 30+ lbs. I really want to share, because we did this without relying on a pharmaceutical (not that there is anything wrong with that).”

In light of many celebrities coming forward about their experience taking ozempic and other trending weight loss drugs, Lake made it clear that her recent weight loss was done sans popular pharmaceuticals. She shared in the post that she “will go in depth in another post of what I did exactly [to lose the weight].”

The star acknowledged there were obstacles when losing weight over 50. “Being 55 and in perimenopause, I was a bit worried that my body would not drop the lbs like it had in the past,” Lake wrote. “I am so so proud of us. I feel amazing. I feel strong. 💪 I will go in depth in another post of what I did exactly, but suffice to say this is the healthiest way I’ve lost weight in all of my years.”

Fans were excited for Lake and flooded the comments section with support. One wrote, “Triple bonus points for starting in November and maneuvering all the holiday temptations. 👏👏 Love this for you both 🙌.” Another follower shared her own struggles with losing weight in her 50s, saying, “Congratulations!! I’m doing the same. Perimenopause is a real b@!%$ lol.”

Some of our favorite celebs also chimed in with their cheers. Kristin Chenoweth wrote, “Good for y’all!! This is amazing!!!” Paulina Porizkova wrote, “What a great way to celebrate your fab 50s! Bravo to both of you!”

Since the big reveal, Lake has also shared a then-and-now swimsuit photo—but she didn’t pose in just any bathing suit. She donned one she wore on a magazine cover story about a previous weight loss journey back in 2007.

Lake captioned the post, “Then and now. 2007-2024. I held onto this #NormaKamali one- piece for all these years wondering if I would ever be able to wear it again. 💪💥❤️”

We couldn’t be happier for Lake’s happiness, and can’t wait to see what the star shares next.
