    Features

All the joy of a Japanese maple, but in a much larger, very impressive form. Samurai Sword maple has the same interesting palmate foliage as the smaller trees you're used to seeing, but grows to the size of a small shade tree. Quickly. You won't have to wait a lifetime to see this statement tree reach its mature size. It's perfect for placement next to sidewalks and driveways, as its canopy naturally develops a tall oval shape with the perfect amount of space for walking beneath. This garden positioning also allows it to be on full display year-round, where its three-season red color show absolutely shines. In early spring its foliage is a dusty red color, later accompanied by bright red helicopters (these seeds are technically known as samaras). In summer the red hue leans toward a more stately burgundy color. It finishes the growing season with a brilliant glowing red color.

    Maintenance Notes:

Any soil type will do, it's quite adaptable.

Doesn't need regular pruning, but if you'd like you can shape it a bit in the springtime. Avoid any regular pruning, as this could negatively impact the naturally oval canopy shape that it develops over time.
