Description

A tiny little Spanish hoop-petticoat with pale primrose (sometimes approaching near-white, though sometimes it is darker yellow) flowers subtly hinted with green. These sit at a 45°angle, almost at ground level alongside the two or three narrow leaves, which are upright at first but soon become semi-prostrate. The stamens and style are exserted from the mouth of the flower, the style exceedingly so.

Slightly variable across its geographical range, with changelings occurring in cultivation, so we stress that these are true, horticulturally propagated bulbs. They are however naturally tiny, it’s the way that this dwarf plant naturally is.

A super little plant, the emphasis being on the “little” it is our very smallest species within the bulbocodium group and is a perfect elfin miniature for pot, pan or sink garden. Scarce and seldom seen, the bulbs are tiny and in keeping with the miniature status. Very early flowering, the beginning of February is normal here outside, the New Year and January under glass.
