I just looked it up. I remember a guy having one and he said it started to split and took over his tank. He had to remove them all and it was difficult.

Is this true?

I've never kept one, but have seen people keeping them. I believe the sting is no joke so I would use caution if you have need to handle it.

This is correct. I haven't been stung by one (one of the few things I can say that about) but it would not be a fun experience. They do split, this and the other type we see (Heterodactyla hemprichii) can be very prolific and hard to remove. Although if I could find a bright red one I'd happily give it a system to take over.

I read somewhere (and please please someone correct me if I'm spouting nonesense) the hellfire has such a potent sting that it'll come back decades after you've been stung like a bad trip. True story?

Beautiful nem, but never gonna get one of those jokers, regardless of whether or not my previous statement is true/valid (I could totally be thinking of another critter).

I dont know. It was a rather expensive filler piece in a coral shipment from Indo back end of summer. Its in a basket with a carpet anemone in another next to it with probably 80 Bubble Tips in the rest of the tank which is part of an appr. 380 gal system at the store. I have never seen it split and have penny heard of that one report of them doing so. They are rare enough that there isn't much experience out there to get an idea from
