Very special thanks for the first three photos of the rare wrasse Coris roseoviridis to Malcolm Francis and Gerald McCormic from Roratonga, the biggest of 15 Cook Islands in the South Pacific.
Coris roseoviridis, also named Red and Green Coris, Vivid-rose Coris, is known in the eastern central Pacific from the Pitcairn islands, Mangareva (Gambier Islands), Austral Islands, Rapa and Rarotonga (Cook Islands).
The beautiful wrasse inhabits sand and rubble patches adjacent and scattered within coral reefs in a depth range from 12 to 58 meters.
Unfortunately there is very little known about this endemic tropical beauty.

Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!
