Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Culicia tenella are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Culicia tenella, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Culicia tenella, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Info

Dana, 1846

Culicia tenella is an azooxanthellate stony coral. It does not have energy-supplying zooxanthellae, but relies on the active capture of zooplankton, which it catches with the help of its tentacles and brings it to its mouth.

Culicia tenella is only known from greater depths of around 30 meters and therefore from slightly cooler water temperatures.
