Habe diese Seeigel als Larven ins Aquarium bekommen,sie sind langsam aber kontinuierlich gewachsen. Friedlich, unkompliziert, versteckt lebend, werfen gelegentlich Steine um und fressen ausser allen ungeliebten Algen auch Kalkrotalgen. Aber so halten sie Siedlungsflächen frei und der Algenbewuchs ist schön abwechslungsreich gemustert und nicht so eintönig. Habe einen violetten, einen roten und einen grünen. Willkommene Farbtupfer!

Sehr einfach in der Haltung sehr Temperaturtolerant und das Wasser muss auch nicht des beste sein, denn gerade in verschmutzten Gebieten kommen sie in Massen vor. Sie sind eigentlich perfekt denn sie fressen bei mir alles an Algen, naja fast perfekt denn sie fressen wirklich alles also auch die schönen Kalkalgen. Wenn die Algen mal beseitigt sind kann man auch gut mit Norialgen zufüttern.

Ich pflege diese Art seit vielen Jahren. Auch tropische Temperaturen werden gut vertragen. Mit Hilfe seiner Saugfüßchen dekoriert sich dieser Seeigel mit Algen. Sofern man nicht über genügend Algen als Futter im Aquarium verfügt, ist es wichtig, zuzufüttern. Gefressen werden kurze Grünalgen und Halimeda, abgelehnt wird Caulerpa. Meine Tiere bekommen mehrmals in der Woche Salat oder Löwenzahnblätter, welche gern angenommen werden.
