Info
Goniistius quadricornis is - according to FishBase - a deepwater fingerfin, which is why there is no information on the depth distribution of the animal in FishBase.
Satoshi Yamamoto from Izuzuki Divers, however, was able to get the fish in front of the camera lens at rather moderate depths between 7 and 30 meters, but we would not classify this information as deep water.
There are 8 dark stripes or 2 darker spots in front of the base of the caudal fin across the animal's light-colored body.
Juvenile animals appear significantly darker.
There is no experience of keeping the fingerfin.
Synonyms:
Cheilodactylus quadricornis Günther, 1860 · unaccepted
Chilodactylus quadricornis Günther, 1860 · unaccepted (misspelling)
