Stylissa is a genus of sponges in the family Scopalinidae.

This kind of sponge does not stay very long in tanks. It needs active food (Plankton and dissolved nutrients). Sometimes imported, but you should only buy it if you have thought about it. Will decrease if there is not sufficient food.

Stylissa sp. sind schöne, bisweilen haltbare orangene Schwämme, die bei uns am besten im Halbschatten mit leichter bis mittlerer Strömung gedeihen. Am besten wird der Schwamm zum Fixieren in Gesteinsspalten eingeklemmt, da es sehr lange dauert bis der Schwamm auf dem Substrat festwächst.
Das Geheimrezept zur Haltung von Schwämmen dieser Art ist nach unserer Erfahrung, dass Becken nicht zu sauber sein dürfen. Aufgewirbelter Mulm ist ein super Futter für viele Filtrierer. In unserem Filtriererbecken halten wir einen Stylissa-Schwamm seit mehreren Jahren. In dieser Zeit ist er mehrmals kleiner geworden, aber auch wieder gewachsen. Wir führen dies auf folgende Faktoren zurück: Auf das Gedeihen von Schwämmen haben wohl verschiedenste Faktoren ihre Einflüsse, wie z.B. Wechsel oder Veränderung von Strömung und Beleuchtung, Nahrungsangebot und auch Spurenelementversorgung, hier spielt wohl auch Jod eine Rolle (nur eine Vermutung).
