About a mm long, on a green alga in a tide pool at McKenney Pt., Maine. These acoel flatworms were apparently accidentally introduced to the Gulf of Maine from the NE Atlantic in the 1990's

Convoluta convoluta (Abildgaard, 1806)

Convoluta convoluta is a small acoel in the family Convolutidae. Native to the Baltic Sea, it invaded the Gulf of Maine in the late 1990s.

Convoluta convoluta (Abildgaard) are always without symbionts Genus Lichmophora (Lichmophora hyalina and L.communis), prey on juvenile bivalve and Hrapactoid-copepods.
