Amphiodia occidentalis (Lyman, 1860)

This brittle star has extremely long rays that are easely broken off. A lost appendage is readily regenerated by this.

These brittle stars burrow in the sand and are only exposed when rocks under which they are buried are lifted up.

Deed on diatoms and detritus.
