Info

Parasabella media Bush, 1905

Parasabella media is a large sabellid tubeworm with a variously colored plume. The pinnule tips are glabrous (without pinnules). The tube is parchment-like and large, up to 30 cm long. When the worm retracts into its tube, the tube opening remains round.

This feather-duster worm attaches his egg mass (round donut-shaped gelatinous mass) outside-of-the-tube.

Parasabella media is parasitized by the tiny snail Evalea tenuisculpta. This scab also attacks the red abalone (Haliotis rufescens).
