The sea squirt Pyura elongata is widely distributed in the Indo-Pacific.

Its siphon lining is bright red, the tunica is brown-red and covered with epibionts except for the siphons
The tunica is thick but not hard. The body wall is colorless except for the siphons, which are red.

The intestine forms a single loop with a narrow stomach partially covered with several liver diverticula
A large cloacal cavity is curved at its anterior margin.

Sea squirts are usually not long-lived or permanent in marine aquariums because they lack a continuous influx of plankton.
