Info
The deep-water gorgonian Narella bowersi is known from Hawaiii from the Pensacola Seamount and the Endeavour Seamount off British Columbia in Canada / Alaska and off the US state of Washington.
Around Hawaiii, the coral was discovered using an ROV at a depth range of 1,218 - 1,758 meters; much deeper finds occurred off Washington at 2,500 meters.
Frederick M. Bayer referred in the essay " A Review of the Octocorallia (Cnidaria: Anthozoa) from Hawaii'i and Adjacent Seamounts: The Genus Narella Gray, 18701" pointed out that "commensal polychaetes or ophiuroids were not found in this species", the HURL photos confirm this.
Synonym: Stachyodes bowersi Nutting, 1908
