Info

Ozius guttatus H. Milne Edwards, 1834

The carapace is transversely ovoid, convex. The color brown.

The spotted rock crab has a predatory diet. The strong scissors help her with this. These crabs kill their prey with special curved teeth at the base of their large claws, then cut them with the smoother claws.

The crab occurs in numerous habitats and knows how to assert itself there. It is found on rocky beaches, mangrove swamps, coral reefs and continental slopes from the shallow tides to a depth of 800 m and river mouths. The spotted rock crab can also climb mangrove roots.

We were unable to determine exactly which animals belong to their range of prey. However, it can be assumed that she captures everything that she can hold and cut up with her powerful scissors.
