Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Solea solea are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Solea solea, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Solea solea, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Info

(Linnaeus, 1758)

Adults occur at a temperature range of 8.0-24.0°C . Usually solitary. They burrow into sandy and muddy bottoms. Retreat to deeper water during winter. Feed on worms, mollusks and small crustaceans at night
