Very special thanks for the photos of Leiopathes annosa to Dr. Daniel Wagner (NOAA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration).
Dr. Wagner and Dr. Opresko conducted the scientific description of Leiopathes annosa, a coral of the family Leiopathidae.
The corals were found in a depthrange of 347 to 1020 meters in really cold waters.
Leiopathes annosa is quite remarkable for being one of the oldest living animals in the world
