Amphiroa ephedraea,commonly known as Horsetail algae,grows up to 15 cm in length. This red algae have elongate cylindrical or slighty flattend segments with smooth ends.

The pinkish Horsetail algae can be found hanging on rocks to dephts of 1-20 m.
