Height: to 1.8m, an upright or bushy shrub.
Flowers: 3-6/truss, campanulate, 30-40mm long, bright canary yellow.
February - April.
Leaves: broadly to oblong elliptic, 45-88 x 20-45mm, hairy when young; lower surface with golden yellow scales.
Introduced: 1924, reintroduced 1953.
Distribution: N. Burma and W. Yunnan 2000 - 2600m, epiphytic or on rocks.
This rare species has the finest yellow flowers in the subsection but unfortunately it is also one of the least hardy
and with very early growth is only suitable outdoors for the mildest gardens.
It differs from R. boothii in its smaller leaves and clayx and
from R. sulfureum in its smaller calyx.
