  • 50 Proppant Wagons Were Pumped in Belarus During a 34-Stage Hydraulic Fracturing

Belorusneft has completed a record-breaking multi-stage hydraulic fracturing for the CIS countries. In the Rechitsa district (Gomel region), over 27.3 thousand cubic meters of fracturing fluid, pickling fluid and fresh water were pumped over 34 stages of multi-stage hydraulic fracturing to flush out geophysical assemblies. This is reported by the agency BELTA.

More than 3,000 tons of proppant have been placed in the target intervals of hydrocarbon inflow stimulation. This volume is comparable to 12 Olympic pools of water and 50 rail cars of proppant. Such a number of stages of hydraulic fracturing in a horizontal section of the wellbore will allow obtaining an extensive drainage zone. That is, to increase the area of rock fracturing and create the maximum number of fracture networks in low-permeability reservoirs.

This will ensure maximum production of hydrocarbons from ultra-low permeability, tight fractured carbonate deposits. The previous maximum was recorded in October 2022 at well No. 419 of the Rechitskoye field.

The head of NGDU “Rechitsaneft” Sergey LASITSA explained that this territory is characterized by deposits with hard-to-recover oil. A few years ago, the site’s reserves were considered unpromising for industrial development. “Last year, 57,000 tons of oil were extracted from this deposit, and this year we plan to produce about 150,000 tons,” he said.

The Belorusneft State Concern notes that the Plug&Perf technology remains among the most cost-effective and promising methods. Proven technological and technological-chemical solutions allow achieving high flexibility and adaptability of MSHF for specific tasks and conditions. The resulting well flow rates will allow the development of unconventional reservoirs in the future.

In addition, specialists from the Svetlogorsk Drilling Department drilled 4 production wells in February. The Devon news agency learned about this from a report by Belorusneft. Three wells were built at the Rechitskoye field – 2443 m, 3085 m and 4151 m deep. One well 3383 m deep was drilled in the Severo-Domanovichskaya area.

And in February, the Belarusian oilmen set another record of monthly penetration while drilling sidetracks – 4880 m. The previous achievement – 4813 meters – was set by well repairers in August 2021.
And in 2022, the company for the first time carried out hydraulic fracturing using a synthetic polymer on a traditional oil reservoir.
