Rising London band Terra Twin have shared a new single called ‘Nightshift’ –  watch the video exclusively on Rolling Stone UK below.

The group, led by Lord Of The Rings: Rings of Power star Maxim Baldry, say the moody art-rock track “embraces themes of loneliness, heartache and discomfort through the perspective of an ageing detective looking for love in all the wrong places.”

“It’s an Americana-influenced number tumbling downhill with the brakes off,” they added.

‘Night Shift’ arrives with an accompanying video directed by filmmaker and Instagram lookalike expert Glenn Kitson, which parodies an American ’70s crime drama about a lonely detective. The character, who is working the night shift, misses obvious clues about criminals because he is preoccupied with himself.

Beginning with a gory shower scene, the clip sees the police officer eating a pizza at his desk before falling asleep on the job. Later, he’s distracted by a woman who is smoking in the street after a knife-wielding murderer moves in on his victim.

Speaking about the visuals, Kitson said: “First off it seemed like fun, Maxim [c, singer] came to me with an idea for the music video. He had an idea of a cop on the hunt for a killer and wanted to dress up and put loads of prosthetics on.

“It’s not often these days that a band wants to do something like that, especially a bunch as handsome as these lot. It all reminded me of classic indie band videos from the late 80s and 90s so that was the approach I took when it came to shooting it. We didn’t have a lot of budget for post so everything was done in camera – by the make up department and old camera techniques… analogue style.”

Terra Twin is completed by Lewis Spear (guitar), Joel McConkey (bass) and Alex Wadstein (drums). The group started out as a bedroom project back in 2020 when Baldry was living in New Zealand, with the other three members then joining the following year.

Baldry is best known for portraying Ilisdur in The Lord Of The Rings: Rings Of Power on Amazon Prime.

Terra Twin are due to play a sold-out headline show at the Servant Jazz Quarters in Dalston, London next Wednesday (March 15).

Last September, the band released the single ‘I’m Coming Up (Again)’, which followed on from the 2021 tracks ‘I Don’t Know’ and ‘Eastern Boy’.
