Franz Ferdinand Plot North American Tour in First Shows Since 2014
Franz Ferdinand will embark on a North American tour this summer, performing their first shows in nearly three years.
The Scottish alt-rock outfit has not played live since 2014 and was already scheduled to appear at several festivals, including Governors Ball. The trek opens May 21st with a set at the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama before heading to Nashville, Cleveland, Toronto, Los Angeles, Baltimore and more. Franz Ferdinand will wrap the tour June 16th at the Firefly Festival in Dover, Delaware. A handful of European dates will follow.
Tickets for most shows go on sale March 3rd, while a pre-sale will be available for select dates. More information is available via the band’s website.
Franz Ferdinand has not released an album since 2013’s Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, though the group has remained busy. In 2014, they joined forces with the duo Sparks to form FFS, which released its self-titled debut album in 2015. Singer/guitarist Alex Kapranos has also been working with another supergroup, BNQT, which boasts members of Band of Horses, Midlake and Granddaddy.
Franz Ferdinand’s upcoming tour, however, will also mark the group’s first without founding member and guitarist Nick McCarthy, who left the group last summer due to family commitments. At the time, the band said McCarthy will pursue his own projects and could reunite with the group in the future.
